Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
I have been a member of UWFRA for 21 years, having been underground (cave) leader for 13 years and currently hold the position of surface leader. I have seen the team gradually develop and grow to the point where we are now needing to expand our beloved headquarters "The Hut" in Grassington. We are a voluntary organisation which relies on public donations and our own year round fund raising efforts. The teams annual running costs are approximatly £35,000 per year so I am trying to raise some extra funds towards our team HQ extension.
Other than rescuing people in difficulty on the fells, mountains and in vast cave systems we attend numerous animal rescues including cows, sheep and dogs. Our most recent animal rescue was for a very lucky dog who was found stranded with a broken leg 700m high on the fellside having been there for around 2 weeks. We named him Wufra and he has become a global superstar amongst the general public. To read more about him and his current progress follow our teams Facebook page at:

Over the last few years I have been a keen mountain runner completing several ultra running events such as The Bob Graham Round, The Fellsman, The Lakeland 50 and recently The Ultra Trail du Mont Blanc. If you would like to read more about my running and these events please follow the link to my blog below:

The plan for my fundraiser is to run Wainwright's coast to coast over 3 days which is a total distance of 190 miles. The route starts at St Bees on the most Western point of Cumbria passing through three contrasting national parks: the Lake District National Park, the Yorkshire Dales National Park, and the North York Moors National Park and finishing at Robin Hood's Bay on the East coast. For more details of this route follow:

I will be running with the support of friends, family and UWFRA members.
Thanks for reading my page and for your generous donations.
Andy.
